Great Start Parent Coalition
Provides parents the opportunity to be part of a supportive network of other parents; participate in training to develop skills in leadership and advocacy; plan activities/events that build public support for early childhood; have fun and make a difference by working together toward a commom vision. The Parent Coalition generally meets the 2nd Thursday of the month, 6-7:30pm at the Shiawassee RESD Early Childhood Learning Center located at 114 W. North St., Owosso. Love & Logic Program
989-725-2581, ext. 2110 Contact Lisa Fox. Developed to enable parents to discover some answers for those difficult moments that arise when raising children. This 6 week training program is designed to instruct parents of small children on how to end misbehavior in public, smooth out mornings and bedtimes, calm sibling bickering and battling, take the battle out of meal times, tooth brushing, bathing, etc., make potty training fun, teach respect, responsibility and self-discipline, and much, much more!!! Memorial Healthcare: Preparation for Childbirth Classes
989-729-6422 or toll free 866-900-6422. For expectant mothers and the support person who plans to participate at birth. Course instruction includes prenatal exercises, relaxation techniques, breathing patterns, fetal growth and development, as well as the process of labor and delivery. Class also includes adjusting to parenthood and the newborn. It is recommended you take this course during your 7th month of pregnancy. Cost of this class allows parents to take other classes such as Infant Care & Preparation for Breastfeeding at no additional charge.

More Than Moms: Durand

MSU Extension: Breastfeeding Initiative Program

Norton Street, Corunna, MI 48817 Breastfeeding Initiative Program also known as Mother to Mother Program is a free program that offers breastfeeding information, encouragement and support to WIC and Food Stamp eligible participants. We offer the program to women in Shiawassee County who are pregnant and interested in breastfeeding and those who have already had their child and are breastfeeding. Our clients may stay on the program until the child turns a year old. For more information contact Candis Thick.
